So, you’ve bought a new house or signed the lease for your rental. BPS Immobilier, your real estate agency in Ploërmel, offers some advice for a stress-free move.

Request moving quotes
Once you have your moving date and anticipate needing help with the move, remember to request quotes from movers. To avoid any stress, it’s best to book a team of professionals as early as possible.
If you have decided to handle the move yourself, don’t delay. Rent a truck from a rental shop, or several large supermarkets also offer truck rentals.

Change of address
Update your contact details and make a list of all your contacts to whom you wish to provide your new address, from your insurance company and internet providers to your financial institution, family, and friends. Please note that you can have your mail forwarded to your new address. Simply arrange everything through the Post Office.

Sort your belongings!
Now is the time to sort through your belongings and possessions accumulated over the years. There’s a simple rule to help you make choices: If you haven’t worn a particular item of clothing in a year, it’s probably best not to take it with you to your new house or rental. Consider offering your extra clothes, items, or objects to family, friends, or the Red Cross near you.
Pack your boxes!
It’s never too early to start packing your boxes. Sort seasonal or less-used items and begin with those. You’ll feel more at ease on moving day. Label each box with its contents. This way, it will be easier for you or the movers to transport the boxes to the correct rooms in the house (kitchen, bedrooms, living room, etc.).

The day before the move
The big day is approaching. Try to place your boxes near the door to facilitate transport the next day. Here’s a little tip: why not prepare a small bag with your personal effects so you can easily find everything in the evening without having to search through all your boxes. Also, confirm the time with the moving team and/or pick up the rental truck.

Moving Day
The big day has arrived! Thanks to your organization and preparations over the past few months, everything is ready, and you will be more serene if there are small changes or last-minute unforeseen events.
